Benefits

Benefits of  Studio Potters SA, membership  includes: 

-Use of all club room facilities;  wheels;  kilns;  locker; clay purchases;  use of library; and work space (wheels may not be available during class times).

-Members may consider coming along to our social activities, such as, Mud day (Wednesdays) when any member is welcome to join us.

-You may exhibit in the Gallery (Pottery on Fourth) and in our annual exhibitions (subject to selection process and acceptance.)

-Participation in specialized workshops is popular with members. During the year, the committee arranges one day or weekend skill workshops as opportunity presents.

Application Procedure

An application for membership is presented to the committee who assess the applicants evidence of skill:

3 pots should be presented or other photographic documentation.

- Applicants must be 18 years of age or over.

-Please attach to your application a photocopy of your Driver’s Licence or another form of identity with a photograph.

-Please submit evidence of pottery experience e.g. examples of pots, photos, documentation of experience.

-All sections of the application must be filled in, unless otherwise stated on the form.

NOTE:

-All relevant fees must be paid before your membership is activated and a door access code is issued.

-The Club is not to be used by visitors without prior Committee approval.

-The premises are not to be used as a private studio.

-Long term storage of materials on the premises, other than in a members’ locker,  is strictly prohibited .

-Kilns - At least 3 firings with an experienced Full Member are required before you may fire alone. This can be arranged by firing simultaneously with another member, and being under their guidance.

-Kilns - for non programmable kilns you MUST be present during the whole process of firing, and MUST remain until the kiln is turned off. (Except overnight ‘steaming’ prior to firing.)   - - For programmable kilns you MUST  be present at the time you expect the kiln to automatically turn off (in case of any errors in programming)

-The premises may be used at any time. However, during set class times it may be necessary to negotiate with the class tutor regarding the use of any available wheels.

-The common room may be used at any time.

-All club equipment is available for use but must be maintained and left as clean as possible after use.

-You will receive a regular newsletter.

-You may exhibit in the Gallery and in our annual exhibitions (subject to selection process and acceptance.)  You will be required to be on our Gallery roster 3-4 times each year  (Saturday or Sunday 12-4) if you have work for sale.
